Celebrating Sustainability - for a Greener World

At Nature's Kids we are still on a journey to understand what we can do for a more sustainable future. 2020 was going to be the year where we started to look more at what we consume, what we use and where it goes. We were going to look closely at our 3 pillars of Social Responsibility; Community, Environmental, and Ethical. As you can imagine, our plans slightly changed. I (Mr Nature's Kids) work within the NHS, our kids were being home scholled, which came with interesting challenges, and Caprice was managing alone in our new unit, and also managing her health, and if you include trying to move house, and all this with not seeing family members, it was not easy.

An interesting outcome from the pandemic, has been an increase in peoples contact with nature and the surrounding environment. Lockdown has meant that families are going for more walks, and have taken in interest in the wildlife and plants surrounding their homes. Will this continue? At Nature's Kids we tried to do as many walks as possible, but we are finding that during the second lockdown, this is happening more and more.

We have decided that 2021 will be the kick start for us to look more into what it is to be sustainable

Our family have already looked at possible areas, and during 2021 I will blog about our progress, and what we think is possible for a family. Our oldest daughter is very insistent that we join a litter picking group.

  • Zero Waste Shopping
  • Use Less Plastic
  • Waste Less Food
  • Reduce, Reuse, Recycle
  • Pick up Litter
  • Eat Less Meat

During Covid 19, Sir David Attenborough has also brought us more documentaries on a topic which will ultimately become more pressing than the pandemic. The Climate Emergency.

"We are at a unique stage in our history; never before have we had such an awareness of what we are doing to the planet, and never before have we had the power to do something about it" Sir David Attenborough

In our local area, there is a local wildlife group, which I will be eventually will joining and seeing what the local community are doing and how they are helping the local area.

Lets see what happens in 2021.
